Bohol Panglao has always been on my travel bucket list, and this year, I finally made it happen! As a single mom, I embarked on a special trip with my 17-year-old daughter, embracing both adventure and relaxation. From glamping under the stars to unwinding in a private beachfront resort, our almost a week Bohol getaway was nothing short of magical.
Bohol, a tropical paradise in the Philippines, is not only known for its stunning landscapes and historical sites but also for its peaceful, serene ambiance—making it the ideal destination for a mindful adventure. During our trip to Bohol, my daughter and I crafted an itinerary that combined thrilling activities with moments of reflection and relaxation, embracing the essence of mindfulness travel.

Getting to Bohol
Our journey began with a short flight from Manila to Bohol-Panglao International Airport. The flight took approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, making it a quick and convenient escape from the city hustle.
Day 1: Arrival and Slow Living
After our short flight from Manila to Bohol Panglao, we checked into our accommodations at Alona Glamping. Nestled among the tranquil greenery, the glamping site offered the perfect environment to kick off our mindful journey. We spent the evening unwinding and absorbing the natural beauty around us. It’s amazing how the simple act of slowing down and taking in your surroundings can instantly lift your spirit.
First Stay: Alona Glamping – A Unique Experience
For the first part of our trip, we stayed at Alona Glamping, a charming eco-friendly accommodation that blended nature with comfort. The setup was dreamy—cozy tents equipped with comfy beds, fairy lights, and just the right touch of bohemian vibes. It was my daughter’s first time glamping, and she absolutely loved the experience of sleeping under the stars while still having modern comforts.

Glamping Alona is a eco friendly newly constructed Resort on a quiet place just 2km away from the noisy but funny Alona Beach and other white sand beaches. We chose one of the larger bungalows, which provided plenty of space for my daughter and me.
Day 2: Exploring Nature and Mindful Connections
We began our day with a peaceful sunrise yoga session, followed by a healthy breakfast, fueling us for a day of exploration. Our first stop was the iconic Chocolate Hills, where the vast landscape seemed to speak to our souls. Walking through the rolling hills, we took in every moment, practicing deep breathing and appreciating the serenity of this unique natural wonder. It was one of those moments where time felt irrelevant, and we were fully present in the beauty of the Earth.
Next, we visited the Tarsier Sanctuary. While observing the world’s smallest primates, we found ourselves reflecting on the importance of conserving nature and respecting all living creatures. The experience was not only educational but deeply grounding, reminding us of the need to protect the planet’s treasures.
Drive through the breathtaking Bilar Man-Made Forest, a dense stretch of mahogany trees that forms a natural tunnel along the road. The towering trees and cool shade made it a refreshing stop, perfect for capturing scenic photos and enjoying the tranquil atmosphere.
Day 3: Water Adventures with a Mindful Twist
Bohol is famous for its pristine beaches, and no trip is complete without experiencing them. We set out to explore the famous Panglao Island, enjoying a slow paddle on a kayak as we drifted through turquoise waters. Instead of rushing through, we took our time, immersing ourselves in the calmness of the ocean. The gentle sound of the waves and the feeling of being one with nature added to the mindfulness of the experience.
Later in the day, we visited Hinagdanan Cave for a swim. Surrounded by stalactites and crystal-clear water, it felt like stepping into another world. We made sure to stay fully present, enjoying the cool waters while listening to the echoes of the cave.
Day 4: Cultural Immersion and Reflection
Bohol isn’t just about nature—it’s also rich in culture. We took a trip to the Baclayon Church, one of the oldest churches in the Philippines, where we reflected on history and spirituality. The peaceful atmosphere of the church offered a perfect moment of quiet reflection, allowing us to connect to the deeper meaning of our travels.
Day 5: Alona Beach: Relaxing and Fun Nights
After a full day of adventure, we decided to dedicate time to simply enjoying the beach. We headed to Alona Beach, a stunning white-sand beach in Panglao known for its vibrant yet laid-back atmosphere.
During the day, we had a refreshing swim in the crystal-clear waters, letting the gentle waves wash away any lingering stress. Floating in the ocean, feeling the warmth of the sun, and listening to the sound of the waves—it was a moment of pure relaxation and mindfulness.
As the sun set, Alona Beach transformed into a lively yet soothing spot. Beachfront restaurants and bars lit up, creating the perfect fun night atmosphere. We enjoyed a delicious seafood dinner while feeling the cool ocean breeze, followed by a quiet stroll along the shoreline under the stars. The combination of fun and serenity made Alona Beach one of our favorite parts of the trip.
Bohol Sea Resort – A Private Oasis
After a few days of adventure, we switched to a more secluded retreat at Bohol Sea Resort for three nights. This private resort offered a completely different experience—peaceful, quiet, and away from the crowds. The resort had a tranquil beachfront, lush gardens, and a relaxing ambiance that made it perfect for unwinding.
One of the highlights of staying at Bohol Sea Resort was simply enjoying the serene environment. We spent hours lounging by the beach, taking slow morning walks, and embracing the slower pace of island life. The privacy and exclusivity of the resort made it feel like our own little sanctuary.
Exploring MIST Café: A Hidden Gem in Bohol
During our recent trip to Bohol, my daughter and I made sure to visit the MIST Café, a charming spot that quickly became one of our favorite places. Nestled in a serene corner of Bohol, this café offers not just a place to grab a cup of coffee, but an experience that combines relaxation, breathtaking views, and delicious food.
Upon entering MIST Café, we were greeted by a cozy yet modern atmosphere, with floor-to-ceiling windows that allowed us to take in the lush greenery surrounding the area. The café’s minimalistic design, paired with natural lighting, created the perfect vibe for unwinding after a day of exploring.
We visited MIST Café, to enjoy a mindful meal. We savored each bite, appreciating the rich flavors while soaking in the café’s tranquil ambiance and stunning views. MIST is a unique and special natural architectural design cafe and restaurant which located in the world famous tourist destination island Panglao Bohol in the Philippines. They offer healthy lifestyle dishes.

The Best Big Burger: And then there was the burger—without a doubt, one of the best we’ve ever had! A big, juicy patty with all the right toppings, it was everything you could want in a burger and more.

Whether you’re a local or a visitor, MIST Café is a must-visit when in Bohol. It offers a wonderful combination of great food, delightful drinks, and a peaceful setting that makes it more than just a café—it’s a destination.
Day 5: Departure with Gratitude
On our final day, we had a quiet morning to ourselves at Bohol Sea Resort, enjoying the calm of the early hours. We sat by the beach, letting the soft ocean breeze refresh our minds and bodies. As we prepared to depart, we felt a deep sense of gratitude for the mindfulness we had cultivated during our trip, as well as the memories created along the way.
